Journey to Excellence (JTE) is Scouting America’s planning, performance, and recognition program for units. Covers award levels (Bronze/Silver/Gold), service project requirements by level, and how to report service hours.

Journey to Excellence (JTE) is Scouting America’s annual unit performance and recognition program. Units earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold recognition by meeting performance thresholds across criteria including membership, advancement, camping, and community service. Service project requirements: Bronze = 2 projects, Silver = 3, Gold = 4 — with at least one project per year benefiting the chartered organization. Hours are submitted at my.scouting.org.

Journey to Excellence (JTE) is Scouting America’s planning, performance, and recognition program for packs, troops, crews, ships, and posts. It is designed to align unit, district, and council performance to maximize results in key areas including membership retention, financial health, camping, advancement, and community service.

Units that meet performance thresholds earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold recognition.

LevelGeneral Threshold
BronzeMeet minimum requirements across most criteria
SilverHigher performance thresholds across criteria

For troops, earning Bronze requires completing 11 of 13 criteria and earning 700 points; Silver requires 1,000 points; Gold requires 1,600 points.

Community service is one of the scored criteria in JTE. Units must participate in service projects to earn points toward their award level.
