Scouting for Food

Annual BSA food drive in which Scouts collect canned goods door-to-door in assigned residential areas. The pack coordinates area assignments with the district, arranges food pantry drop-off, and provides bags and door hangers.

Scouting for Food is one of the largest annual BSA community service programs. Over two consecutive weekends in November, Scouts first distribute bags with door hangers asking neighbors to leave food donations, then return the following weekend to collect the filled bags. The district coordinates to ensure coverage without duplication between packs. All collected food is donated to a local food pantry. This event directly supports the Cub Scout value of helpfulness and gives Scouts a tangible community service experience.
