Cemetery Flag Placement & Retrieval

Annual service project placing American flags on veterans’ graves before Memorial Day and retrieving them afterward. A meaningful community service and patriotic activity for Scouts of all ages.

Cemetery flag placement connects Scouts directly to the values of patriotism and respect for those who served. Scouts place small American flags at each veteran’s grave marker before Memorial Day weekend, then return to collect the flags after the holiday. The activity is appropriate for all ages and can be completed as a den or full pack outing. Many Scouts find this to be one of the most memorable service projects of the year.
