Quartermaster
Role Summary
The Quartermaster is responsible for the care and maintenance of troop equipment and supplies. This Scout keeps an inventory of all troop gear, ensures equipment is in good condition and ready for activities, and coordinates the distribution and return of gear for campouts and other events.
Requirements
- Selection: Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader with Scoutmaster approval
- Training: Should complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
Core Responsibilities
- Keep records of troop equipment and supplies
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all troop gear
- Ensure equipment is clean, in good repair, and stored properly after each use
- Issue equipment to patrols and individuals for campouts and activities
- Collect and inspect equipment when it is returned
- Recommend needed repairs or new purchases to the Patrol Leaders’ Council
- Work with the troop committee on equipment budgets and purchasing
- Suggest improvements to the troop’s gear and storage systems
