Order of the Arrow Representative
Role Summary
The Order of the Arrow (OA) Representative serves as the liaison between the troop and the local OA lodge. This Scout promotes the Order of the Arrow at the troop level, encourages eligible Scouts to seek election into the OA, and keeps the troop informed about OA events and opportunities.
Requirements
- Selection: Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader with Scoutmaster approval
- Membership: Must be a current member of the Order of the Arrow
- Training: Should complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as the communication link between the troop and the OA lodge or chapter
- Encourage Scouts who are eligible to seek election into the Order of the Arrow
- Coordinate the troop’s OA election process with the lodge
- Promote OA events, activities, and service opportunities to troop members
- Report on OA activities at Patrol Leaders’ Council meetings
- Encourage OA members in the troop to maintain their membership and be active in the lodge
- Set a good example of the OA’s principles of cheerful service
