Historian
Role Summary
The Historian preserves the history and traditions of the troop. This Scout documents troop activities through photographs, records, scrapbooks, or digital media, creating a lasting record of the troop’s experiences and achievements.
Requirements
- Selection: Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader with Scoutmaster approval
- Training: Should complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
Core Responsibilities
- Collect and preserve troop photographs, news stories, and memorabilia
- Maintain a troop scrapbook, digital archive, or historical display
- Document troop activities, outings, service projects, and special events
- Take or coordinate photographs at troop events
- Report on troop history at courts of honor and special occasions
- Work with the troop webmaster or communications team to share troop stories
- Keep a record of troop award recipients and accomplishments
