Chaplain Aide
Role Summary
The Chaplain Aide assists the troop chaplain (an adult volunteer) and helps ensure that the spiritual needs of troop members are met. This Scout leads prayers at troop events, promotes the 12th point of the Scout Law (reverent), and helps organize religious observances. The Chaplain Aide encourages Scouts to earn their religious emblems.
Requirements
- Selection: Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader with Scoutmaster approval
- Training: Should complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
Core Responsibilities
- Assist the troop chaplain in meeting the spiritual needs of the troop
- Lead or arrange prayers or grace at troop meetings, campouts, and other events
- Encourage troop members to strengthen their own duty to God through religious emblems programs
- Help plan and carry out the troop’s chaplain aide service at campouts and special events
- Set a good example in living the Scout Oath and Scout Law
- Promote the 12th point of the Scout Law — A Scout is Reverent
- Keep the Scoutmaster and chaplain informed of any special needs of troop members
