Creating Facebook Events

For every pack meeting and major outing:

  1. Create a Facebook Event on the pack’s page
  2. Include: date, time, location (your pack meeting location or specific venue), brief description, what to bring
  3. Post at least 2 weeks in advance
  4. Pin the event or share it to the page’s timeline as the event approaches

Posting Photos

Photo policy:

  • Only post photos of Scouts whose families have provided general consent (typically collected via a photo release form)
  • When in doubt, crop out faces or get explicit permission
  • Follow BSA’s youth protection policies: no individual photos of a single Scout without a parent present

Tips for great event photos:

  • Capture Scouts in action (not just posed shots)
  • Get the Cubmaster’s permission to share any particularly sensitive or award-ceremony moments
  • Label photos with the event and approximate date (Facebook adds the date automatically)

Pack Meeting Facebook Communication

Before each pack meeting, post or share a reminder:

  • Event name: “the pack Monthly Pack Meeting — [Month]”
  • Date, time, and location
  • Any special elements (advancement ceremony, guest presenter, etc.)
  • “All Scout families welcome!”
